MPSSA Basketball Tournament

St. Anthonys have a great day out

On Thursday the 1st of August, the Grade 5/6 basketball teams travelled to Cobblebank stadium to compete in the MPSSA 2 basketball tournament.

The girls lost their first game but bounced back strongly to win the next 2 thrilling games to finish 2nd in the division group. Unfortunately due to time constraints the girls didn’t get the opportunity to play in the semifinals. As the girls finished 2nd in the group they did not get to play in the grand final.

The boys were dominant in the first 2 games, but it was going to be a tough 3rd game against Melton South to see who would finish 1st in the group. Our boys played really well and showed great sportsmanship to overcome a strong opposition and win. This meant that our boys finished 1st and went straight through to the grand final. The Grade 6 boys who represented our school did an amazing job in all aspects of the game to win the MPSSA 2 district flag and advance to the Divisionals in October.

Well done to all students on your sportsmanship, team first attitude and trying your best.
