In Primary Schools
Children’s mental health is fundamental to their development and learning. Good mental health means having a positive sense of wellbeing, coping with challenges and being able to realise individual potential. The Mental Health in Primary School (MHiPS) model has been developed by paediatricians, educators, psychologists, researchers, and teachers.
I recently commenced as Mental Health Leader and am looking forward to getting to know and working with the St Anthony’s school community. I am also committed to working collaboratively with the Wellbeing team to support the wellbeing of all who make up the school community. I have worked in various educational settings and roles from Foundation to Tertiary for over 21 years and am passionate about increasing students’ life chances. In supporting all learners, I believe that it is important to value the connection between wellbeing and learning. Wellbeing has a significant impact on students’ academic outcomes – students with a greater level of wellbeing are more likely to experience improved academic outcomes.
