Mad About Science

Year 2

As part of our Year 2 inquiry unit of learning, students have been exploring the big question “how are earth’s resources impacted?”

On Tuesday, 7th May, Ken from Mad About Science visited our students to teach them about the features and importance of water, the water cycle, water pollution and erosion.

Students engaged in a range of activities and hands on experiments, such as:

  • Creating condensation and precipitation in a beaker
  • Cleaning up an oil spill
  • Capillary action – the movement of water against gravity up a tube, to show how “sticky” water molecules are
  • Erosion using sugar cubes and water

The Year 2 students and staff are excited to continue exploring our big question throughout this term, what a great experience to support and enhance our learning!
