In the Light of Christ

Year 6

As part of their preparation for Easter, the Year 6 students learnt about how various saints experienced encounter through the Holy Spirit. They reflected on the significance of the Liturgical Calendar and designed an El Salvador Cross to represent the impact of Jesus’ teachings on themselves.

El Salvador crosses are also called Crosses of Hope when made by refugees. The images of life shown on the cross are things that give people meaning in their everyday life. For example, the sun, the land, their village or community, their family, their home, animals or wherever one finds God present to them.

The Year 6 teachers led our staff through a powerful prayer using the students’ crosses to illuminate our own encounter with God. Teachers spent some quiet time reflecting and engaged with the stories each cross told.
