Year 2 Classroom News
In the lead up to Easter, and during the start of term 2, Year 2 students have reflected on the events of Holy Week. There was a particular focus on Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Students experienced and encountered these significant events in the Catholic church through Scripture stories, Godly Play, reflective practice, informative videos and crafts.
All Year 2 classes contributed to a collaborative art display that allows us to walk with Jesus through Holy Week.
This display begins with Palm Sunday, when we remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, greeted by crowds waving palm branches. On Holy Thursday, we recall the Last Supper, where Jesus shared a final meal with his disciples and taught them about love and service by washing their feet. Good Friday is a solemn day when we reflect on Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross. Finally, Easter Sunday is a joyful celebration of Jesus’ resurrection, bringing hope and new life to all.
Throughout our Holy Week learning, students were asked to reflect on various questions to deepen their understanding of each event. Here are some of our students’ responses:
