Foundation News
It was so exciting to see all of the new Foundation students at school! Everyone had a great exploration of the school, finding the different coloured sheep after reading the story “Where is the Green Sheep?”
Picture story books are a great way to engage with your child and to develop lifelong literacy skills and a love of books. Children will be borrowing these on Fridays during the library time for you to enjoy together.
A few housekeeping things to mention;
- Please enter the prep building through the corridor doors and assist them or encourage them to unpack their bag for the day. Children will need their lunch box and drink bottle to put away. Then say your farewell and send them on their way. This helps our students to settle quicker into school and allows your child’s teacher to set up their classroom routine without distraction.
- At the end of the day, you or an older sibling are able to pick your child up from their external classroom door. Your child will only be sent out if your child’s teacher sees you or their sibling or carer. Teachers are then available for a quick chat if needed or you can use this time to make an appointment to see them if you require a longer amount of time.
- Wednesday’s are PREP REST DAY FOR THE WHOLE OF FEBRUARY – during this time your child may rest at home or you and your child may be attending the school’s Get to Know You appointment with your child’s teacher at school to complete some tasks and to allow you time to fill in your Health Nurse Form and ask any questions about the year.
