NAIDOC Week

3rd of July – 10th of July

NAIDOC Week 2022 in Australia will officially begin on Sunday, 3rd of July and ends on Sunday, the 10th.

As this year it falls during the upcoming school holidays, our teachers have decided that it would be a great way to start next term for our school to celebrate and commemorate it within our first week back activities.

NAIDOC is celebrated by people from all walks of life, Indigenous and non‑Indigenous people of Australia. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support and amplify the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Over the holidays if you want to participate in a community event, the Melton library is hosting a free all ages Arts Market curated by proud Kamilaroi woman and local artist Lucy Webster! Join this family-friendly afternoon including a market featuring handmade arts and crafts made by local Elders and community members, a free BBQ, an arts workshop for kids, traditional games and a yarning circle.

Take a look at the full program below and join us to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples this NAIDOC Week by following this link.
