Divisional Netball Championships

Year 6

On Friday, July 27th, the Year 6 Netball Team went to the Divisional Championships in New Gisborne. They played three games of netball. In their first game, St Anthony’s Primary School played St Brigid’s Primary School from Gisborne. It was a close game. Felevehi and Amaan were unstoppable in the goal circle, scoring a combined 14 goals for the team. St Anthony’s won by 4 goals.

In the second game, St Anthony’s Primary School played Bacchus Marsh Grammar. It was a competitive match. Mele, Jasmina and Havanah took some impressive intercepts in defence, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. St Anthony’s lost by 8 goals.

In the third and final match, St Anthony’s Primary School played Melton West Primary School. Centre court players Rachel, Mahek, Leah and Aayat put pressure on the opposition and fed the ball into the goalers with ease. St Anthony’s won their match by 20 goals.

Overall, it was a successful day on the netball court. St Anthony’s Primary School won a total of two out of their three games and came in second place. Unfortunately, they will not proceed to the next level. Mrs Conroy and Miss Dodd would like to congratulate the girls on their sportsmanship, commitment and enthusiasm. They would also like to thank Vicky Utoasega for scoring and the parents who supported the girls on the day.
