Ecolinc Science and Technology Innovations Excursion

Year 4

Inquiry is in full swing in Year 4! From researching geographical divisions and diverse biomes to exploring traditional sustainability practices, our students have officially launched their exciting new unit of work. This term, we are sharpening our focus on Indigenous plants and their traditional uses, exploring how First Nations peoples deeply understood and utilized native flora for food, medicine, and daily life.

To bring this learning to life, students kicked off the unit last week with an immersive excursion to Ecolinc. There, they explored the unique properties of a variety of native Australian plants, examining their scents, structures, and natural habitats. A major highlight of the day was learning how to propagate bush food seeds and cuttings. Our young horticulturists were thrilled to take their newly potted plants home, and we look forward to hearing how they grow!
