Year 4 Excursion
As part of our Inquiry studies, the Year 4s have been exploring local government and the services it provides. Last Wednesday, we were very excited to visit Melton City Council and meet Mayor Lara Carli.
During our visit, we had the opportunity to see inside the council chambers where official meetings take place. Students learned about the services provided at all levels of government, with a particular focus on those delivered by our local council.
Students also met Mayor Carli, who explained her role and responsibilities. They were able to ask questions and even took part in a mock council meeting, where they worked together to plan a new playground.
It was exciting to be inside the chambers where many important decisions for our community are made. The experience was empowering for our students, as they saw that everyone has a role to play in the local community. They learned that, even at a young age, they can actively contribute to making our community a great place to live.
